Red Sky Gems is based out of Tucson, Arizona. The company was established in 2010 by its owner, Eric Perkins. He has a lifetime of experiences to share with rock hounds, jewelry artists and gem aficionados. Eric supplies the most unique agate and jasper cabochons for artists in the jewelry industry. He believes in quality and his cabochons speak for themselves.
Eric and his passion for gemstones, both originally hail from Vermont. He started going to the Burlington Vermont Gem and Mineral Club at the age of fifteen. The club drove him a step closer to his passion for gems, minerals and the jewelry world. This experience set him in the direction of thirty years in the fine jewelry and gem business. Eric graduated with a graduate gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America in 2001.
While working in the jewelry industry, Eric always had a curiosity about cutting gems. He bought his first lapidary machine in the mid eighties and since that day onward he has been cutting cabochons and pursuing his passion.
After living in the northeast for many years, Eric now lives in Tucson, Arizona. Tucson is the home of the largest gem and mineral show in the world. This is where many people gather every February to exchange gems, lapidary rough, experiences, talent, and ideas. This is one of the reasons he moved to southern Arizona.
